Valentine's Day and Divisive Rogues

Seems like everyone is eager to celebrate Valentine's Day, (and though I find it a little corny) why not?
Muthalik was on the news saying that he's going to send a memo to colleges to "ban" Valentine's Day.
The Roman Catholic Church, ages ago declared this day (February 14th) a holy day in honor of various Christian martyrs named 'Valentine'. Well, there are a lot stories connected with how the 'Celebration of Love' coincided with this day. But today in our world, it stands as it is, a day to celebrate love (corny phrase again)
So, why are people like Muthalik keen to ban a day which may as well have significance for a person of a religion which is not Hinduism.
Hindu wives fast for their husbands, is it not for 'love' they go without food or water for a whole day?
Rakhi is another festival to celebrate love between brothers and sisters, another Hindu festival.
So, if you are not a Hindu, then is the only other day to celebrate love in India going to be banned for you?
Will Muthalik and the likes of him ban everything that is not related to Hinduism?
Next time you know, no Christmas and no Id!
We have celebrated all sorts of festivals. During Diwali all of us are excited about bursting crackers and lighting the house with diyas.
During Id, I am at my friend's place hogging biriyani and participating in their celebrations.
And I am sure most of us Indians have done so too. We have probably celebrated a festival that is not essentially part of our "Culture".
So why are goons trying to divide us and rampage a day which is all about love.
Cupid, Kama, Rati, Eros and Venus may be part of our world's mythology. But weren't they all created for a reason?
